 Greg Houser

Greg currently lives in Los Banos, the heart of California’s waterfowl wintering grounds, with his wife Lisa. He has been hunting waterfowl for over 20 years with a short break when he was enlisted as a U.S. Marine. He currently hunts the California refuge system and flooded rice in the Sacramento area where he grew up.

Greg has always been a passionate waterfowler but it grew in August of 2011 when he picked up his new duck dog, “Hank.” From the moment he came home, the training began, for both Greg and Hank. Hank has earned an AKC Junior Hunt Title, Senior Hunt Title and is well on his way for a Master Hunt Title. He has competed in North American Hunting Retriever Association (NAHRA) Hunting Tests and done very well. Hank earned a Companion Dog Obedience Title including a blue ribbon first place just after his first birthday. Hank has hunted ducks in the marsh, the rice and the Suisun Bay.

Greg’s passion for the dogs wasn’t finished yet. In October 2012, Greg picked up his second hunting dog, “Maggie”. Maggie earned a Beginner Novice Obedience Title including blue ribbon first place all before her first birthday. Maggie has also earned an AKC Junior Hunt Title and is currently training for AKC Field Trial Derby’s and Hunt Tests.

Greg and Lisa started Houser’s Quality Labs to breed high quality Labrador Retrievers and further enjoy their passion of training dogs and helping others. Greg picked up his third Labrador, “Jaxi” and has already begun her training.

Greg has been a member of the Hills Ferry Hunting Retriever Club since 2012. In 2013, he was nominated and elected as the club’s president. Also in 2013, Greg was asked to be a facilitator for the Combat Veteran’s Waterfowl Association. He spends countless days in the field with his wife, friends and dogs, chasing birds up and down the state.
